Porsche Design: Chronotimer Special Edition at the GP Ice Race 2020

During this first weekend in February, the second edition of the GP Ice Race will be staged, a competition on ice that has been brought back to life in 2019 after almost 45 years. Once again, the icy surface of the old airport in picturesque Zell am See will host the historic race, which will feature professional drivers as well as amateurs on the ice. As Official Timer, Porsche Design has dedicated a special edition timepiece to the GP Ice Race. As in all the brand's other watches, the 42-mm case is made of light, durable titanium and features a black titanium carbide coating. The GP Ice Race logo inside the matt black dial pays homage to the ice race of the same name, while the ice-blue and snow-white time markers symbolise the adverse conditions on the ice rink. The movement, concealed by the smoked sapphire crystal on the caseback engraved with "GP Ice Race", is the automatic ETA-Valjoux 7750, the same one that powered the Chronograph I, the first watch made by Porsche Design in 1972. The strap is in black leather with contrasting white stitching that echoes the stitching and material used in the interiors of Porsche cars. This special edition adds to the exclusive Chronotimer collection, to which 13 different models currently correspond. The chronograph is available at www.porsche-design.com/GP-Ice-Race-Special-Edition, as well as in selected Porsche Design stores and at premium dealers in Austria and Germany for €4,952 (recommended retail price).
