Richard Mille at the Le Mans Classic 2016

As a tribute to the eighth edition of the Le Mans Classic, Richard Mille - as main partner and official timekeeper - presented the RM 11-02 watch dedicated to the event, a limited edition of 150 pieces, in the colours of the historic race. Several moments entertained the fans during the three-day event, from 8 to 10 July, from the return of Group C Racing (cars from 1982 to 1993) - representing the golden age of endurance racing with more than 40 cars on the track - to the start of the Little Big Mans (which was kicked off by Jamaican sprinter Yohan Blake, Richard Mille ambassador) - which offers very young drivers (aged 6 to 10) the chance to experience a starting grid just like adults and drive on the historic Bugatti circuit - to the official start of the race with the French flag waved by singer, songwriter and producer Pharrell Williams, also a friend of the brand. A thousand drivers took turns day and night at the wheel of the 550 cars entered. Among them were big names from motor sport and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, such as champions Henri Pescarolo, Gérard Larrousse, Éric Hélary, or Romain Dumas, winner of the 2016 edition. 180 clubs and 8,500 cars from 60 manufacturers gathered to celebrate both BMW's 100th birthday and the 50th anniversary of the Ford GT40's first victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Other highlights of the weekend included the Artcurial Motorcars auction and the prestigious Le Mans Heritage Club competition of 24 selected cars, all of which had participated in the Le Mans 24 Hours since 1923. Trucks were also honoured with a special exhibition by the French Federation of Vintage Vehicles (FFVE), dedicated to the transport of racing teams.
