Rolex and Formula 1

Rolex, Official Global Partner of Formula One and Title Sponsor of the 2013 Australian Grand Prix, celebrated the first race of the Formula One World Championship. It is a long-term partnership that began with a thrilling race at Melbourne's Albert Park circuit, which saw Lotus-Renault driver Kimi Räikkönen secure his first win of the season after a tough battle with Fernando Alonso's Ferrari and Red Bull favourite Sebastian Vettel. It was a very challenging race, with some tactical choices made by the competing teams that made even more evident the passion for innovation, technology and split-second precision that Formula 1 shares with Rolex. The race weekend began with Arnaud Boetsch, Communications & Image Director of Rolex SA, Andrew Westacott and John Harnden, CEO and Vice President of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation respectively, unveiling the new Rolex watch on the pit lane of the Albert Park circuit. Rolex stalwart, Sir Jackie Stewart, not only attended the unveiling of the Rolex watch but also witnessed the entire race throughout the weekend. In addition to the watch specially created to be placed on the pit lane, Rolex's focal presence on the circuit, iconic Rolex watches were on display in the FIA Formula 1 media centre, at the Formula 1 village and in the exclusive hospitality suite of the Paddock Club. Rolex, Title Sponsor of the 2013 Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix, was highly visible throughout the circuit, reinforcing its commitment and support for motor racing. To crown the weekend's activities, the prize-giving ceremony, embellished with the Rolex brand visible on the podium, took place in front of a television audience of millions. Arnaud Boetsch, Communications & Image Director of Rolex SA, presented the Constructors' Prize to Alan Permane of the Lotus team.
