Seiko was the promoter of a full immersion in the underwater world dedicated to the younger generation. The project, christened "Seiko Summer Class", took place in Ustica from 1 to 4 September, under the patronage of the island's Marine Protected Area, a paradise for divers and sea lovers that has been working together with the local community since 1986 to protect and manage the marine environment and territory, and was developed thanks to the partnership between two important realities in the diving world: PADI, a world organisation for training underwater activities, and DAN, the diving safety association. The protagonists of this year's "Seiko Summer Class" were six junior and senior high school students, who distinguished themselves in the context of "Asinara Camp", the summer campus for young people involved in diving training, citizen science, and protection of the marine environment. It took place over three days of diving, during which students had the opportunity to carry out concrete actions in terms of scientific surveys, combining moments of classroom training with educational experiences aimed at promoting a 'culture of the sea' in the new generations. The aim was to teach the importance of a sense of individual responsibility and respect for the environment, using one of the sports closest to the concept of protecting the sea: diving. These young students were honoured with the new Seiko Special Edition PADI watch (SNE575P1), with a 38.5 mm diameter stainless steel case, powered by the V147 calibre, a solar-powered quartz movement. The indexes and spheres are coated with Lumibrite for optimal readability in all lighting conditions, and the date is displayed in a square window at 3 o'clock. At 12 o'clock are the brand logo and the Prospex symbol, indicating that it belongs to the collection, while at 6 o'clock, in addition to the water-resistance indicator - up to 200 m - is the Solar inscription, along with the PADI logo. The watch is on sale for 550 euros. It should be remembered that Seiko, which has always been close to the world of the sea, regularly subjects its diver timepieces, the result of continuous research in the field of technology, to technical tests that prove their resistance in the depths of the sea. Among the various activities of the brand, which is attentive and sensitive to the concept of sustainability, are the Save the Ocean line of watches, part of the proceeds of which are donated to certain protected marine species.
