Seiko presents two new Prospex watches that reinterpret the diver's model of the same name presented in 1968 in a modern key, celebrating it and taking its design with a contemporary style. The first has a steel bracelet, while the second has a black silicone strap. Water-resistant to 200 metres, both are powered by the 6R15 calibre, mechanical with automatic winding. The collection features a 44 mm steel case with a unidirectional rotating bezel. The black dial features luminescent hour markers and hands. The date window opens at 3 o'clock and the screw-down crown is positioned at 4 o'clock. Prospex diver's watches are also designed for professional use. After more than 50 years of investment and research in the field of diving watches, Seiko's list of successes is impressive: from the first use of titanium for the case, to the invention of the corrugated accordion strap, which is more elastic and comfortable, to the double case, to the oversized indexes and hands, Seiko has always been at the forefront of this sector, of which it has signed some important pages of history. In 1965, the Japanese manufacturer produced Japan's first diver's watch, and only three years later, in 1968, it launched the first diver's watch water-resistant to 300 metres, featuring a high-precision Hi-Beat automatic movement with 10 vibrations per second. Today, this legendary timepiece, which has become a true benchmark, is recreated in two tribute models that place Seiko's Haute Horlogerie technologies at the service of all divers, professionals and amateurs alike.
