TAG Heuer from Monaco to Le Mans with Patrick Dempsey

_M7A1110On 13 June, TAG Heuer welcomed brand ambassador Patrick Dempsey to Monaco for a rather unusual event. The actor, driver and owner of the Dempsey Racing team, who participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans last weekend, travelled to the Var circuit in Le Luc in the Porsche 911 RS Viper Green from the private collection of HRH Prince Albert II of Monaco, who chose TAG Heuer as his official watch. On the eve of the departure, Patrick Dempsey was joined by illustrious guests for a cocktail reception in the setting of this collection of rare cars: Jack Heuer, Honorary Chairman of the brand and great-grandson of the founder Heuer, Aurel Bacs, luxury watch expert, Sanjay Hinduja of Gulf Oil International, Roald Goethe, owner of ROFGO Racing and Supercar Blondie, automotive influencer. Not to mention the exceptional presence of HRH Princess Stéphanie of Monaco accompanied by her children Pauline and Louis Ducruet and Camille Gottlieb, descendants of Prince Albert I. A beautiful family photo bringing together several generations as a prelude to an intense race at Le Mans, to celebrate together the unique ties that unite TAG Heuer and the Principality of Monaco and to start a journey on the magnificent roads of the Côte d'Azur. A very precise itinerary, since it partly corresponds to the route taken each year by Prince Albert I of Monaco at the beginning of the 20th century. A route traced in pencil by the Prince himself on a 1904 map, exhibited at the Museum and restored by TAG Heuer as part of its collaboration with the Museum. A historical epic is re-enacted. In 1902, Prince Albert I, nicknamed the Adventurer Prince, decided to cross France on his English-made motorbike, a Humber. Starting in Monaco, he reached Paris, then Deauville; the journey was then repeated each year with a different route. On one of these occasions, the prince rode through, among other places, Le Luc. From 1904, he decided to transfer his journeys onto a large map of France, also known as the Prince's Map. Today, his Humber - reconstructed by Philippe Renzini, Director of the Automobile Museum of Monaco - and the Prince's Map are on display in the Museum. TAG Heuer, as the Museum's official watchmaker, thus decided to restore this mythical map and set off like the Prince, from Monaco to the circuit of Le Luc in the Var, with Patrick Dempsey and some privileged guests in tow. Reaching their destination, the group had the privilege of driving a few laps of the track in more unique than rare racing cars. A Porsche 911 GT3 RS, a classic Porsche 964, a Porsche Panamera GT3, two Porsche GT3 RS Cup competition cars, as well as a replica of the Ford GT40 in which the Gulf Racing team took its first Le Mans 24 Hours victory exactly 50 years ago. To celebrate this anniversary, TAG Heuer presents a special limited edition of 50 pieces of the Monaco Gulf. The watch, with its famous 39mm square case and blue dial, features Gulf's signature colours of blue and orange. The back of the watch features Gulf's anniversary emblem and the piece number XX/50.
