Longines presents its new collection The Longines Avigation Oversize Crown, composed of timepieces in the purest tradition of aviator watches, where aesthetics are at the service of pilots. Inspired by a Longines model from the 1920s, The Longines Avigation Oversize Crown collection has features that will appeal to aficionados of aviation watches as well as those looking for a classy timepiece with a long history behind it. The Longines Avigation Oversize Crown, the aviator watch par excellence, features a diameter of 41 mm, a black dial with white numerals and gold-plated, luminescent poire hands for easy reading in all lighting conditions. The bezel with indexes, rotating and bidirectional, allows the pilot to set time references. Its knurling not only embellishes it but also ensures a better grip when operating it. Due to the oversized winding shaft and crown, the latter is offset from the watch case and allows the bezel to be easily operated even when wearing thick pilot's gloves. This bezel made it possible to record time data in the years when chronographs were rare, but it also served to fix the time of an important event during a mission or - and this is as true today as it was yesterday - an appointment. The Longines Avigation Oversize Crown, which retains the lines of the original watch, is now equipped with mechanical self-winding movements and comes in three steel versions: a single time with a date display, a second variant with a GMT function, and a third with a single-pusher chronograph, equipped with the exclusive L788 calibre column-wheel movement.
