U-Boat - 1938 Double Time

Italo Fontana, the creative mind behind U-BOAT, has always made limited or special edition watches also commissioned by Italian and international special forces, such as those recently designed for the GIS (Special Intervention Group) of the Carabinieri. Continuing in this tradition, the new exclusive 1938 Doppiotempo derives directly from the model made for the historic 9th Parachute Assault Regiment 'Col Moschin'. The 1938 Doppiotempo finds its uniqueness thanks to its link with the "Centouno" commemorative watch, strongly requested and launched on the occasion of their 101st anniversary. The 9th Regiment, in fact, is the heir of those Arditi who at dawn on 16 June 1918 recaptured Col Moschin, hence the name, a battle front between Italian and Austro-Hungarian troops during the Great War. A confirmation, on the part of this special corps, that it has returned to choose the U-BOAT for its unconventional characteristics, both technical and design, which make it perfect for the most extreme missions as well as for free rides. In a special edition of only 200 pieces, the 1938 Double Time adopts a 43 mm satin-finished steel case with an exquisitely retro feel. The watch has two crowns on the left side of the case middle, one for setting the time and date, the other for adjusting the second time zone. The dial is black, with a bi-directional numbered inner bezel, and with notches at 30-minute intervals that synchronise with the additional hand to display the two different time zones, even half-hourly. The mechanism is Swiss self-winding to U-BOAT specifications and boasts a 38-hour power reserve. The strap is in green leather with a steel buckle: handmade in Tuscany by expert craftsmen with a careful choice of fine leathers, and entirely Italian workmanship.
