According to the Swiss newspaper L'Impartialin order to regroup activities in a single establishment PaneraiRichemont is planning to purchase a plot of land in Puits-Godet (Neuchâtel), on which a four-storey building is to be constructed, which should see the light of day in 2009. The facility will be designed to accommodate more than 200 employees, as opposed to today's 100. The CEO of the House himself, Angelo Bonati, had envisaged the manufacture of a single space, possibly in Neuchâtel, since in the past part of the activities had been located in Monruz, where Richemont has another premises dedicated to production. For the realisation of this project, the work on which is scheduled for autumn 2008, Panerai should launch an architectural competition.
The development appears to be in line with the growth of the brand, which this year celebrated 10 years of belonging to the Richemont financial group. In L'OROLOGIO 160, currently on newsstands, we retrace the steps in the recent growth of the Florentine house, which is currently playing a leading role in Sardinia as sponsor of the Vele d'Epoca regatta circuit.
It will be another opportunity to admire live the latest prestigious Panerai creations with manufacture movements, such as the recent Luminor 1950 10 Days GMT, whose unprecedented automatic calibre (pictured) is examined in our column Technical Examples, edited by Dody Giussani.
