Vacheron Constantin is equipping the Fiftysix collection for the first time with a complication: the tuourbillon. The collection, in fact, presented in January 2018, until now consisted of three models, namely the automatic, the day-date with power reserve and the full calendar. The launch of this new model is accompanied by the official announcement of the partnership with Abbey Road Studios, which hosted the launch event for the new Vacheron Constantin creations on 11 September 2018. Accompanying the live celebration of this model will be the voice of English singer-songwriter Benjamin Clementine - one of the faces of the Maison's new communication campaign - in an exclusive concert at Abbey Road Studios, a legendary venue for music history located in the pulsating centre of London, where the echoes of the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Oasis and Radiohead still vibrate. Decidedly slim, at less than 6 mm thick and with its peripheral rotor in 22-carat gold, the calibre of this model is visible through the caseback, which reveals all the beauty of the mechanism with its refined decorations. The tourbillon alone required more than twelve hours for the bevelling and other hand finishing. The decorative elements on the opaline sector dial with a sunburst effect contribute to the harmony of the timepiece. The Fiftysix Tourbillon, the most prestigious creation in the collection, will be available exclusively at Vacheron Constantin Boutiques from April 2019. The Fiftysix style is a clear tribute to a timepiece created in 1956, the reference 6073. The unmistakable design of this iconic model fully expresses the creativity of the Maison during the 1950s, the golden age of Haute Horlogerie and the height of musical creativity. With its round, slim and elegant case, Reference 6073 is distinguished by its four lugs, each representing an arm of the Maltese cross. The classic design of the dial, the bold case and the avant-garde technical features - at the time, it was one of the Manufacture's first timepieces equipped with a self-winding movement and a water-resistant case - made the 1956 model an expression of the marriage between respect for tradition and a taste for innovation, a combination that is very dear to Vacheron Constantin and expressed today by the Fiftysix collection. The latter reinterprets several features of the original model: the lugs each forming an arm of the Maltese cross, the box-type sapphire crystal and the self-winding movements.
