Vacheron Constantin in Japan for the launch of the Overseas collection

vc-team-stevemccurry-06Vacheron Constantin celebrated the worldwide launch of the new Overseas collection in Tokyo with an extraordinary event held at Terrada Souko. On Thursday 16 June 2016, as a tribute to the Overseas collection, the House hosted a magnificent evening for over 200 VIPs and press from Japan, Asia-Pacific and Europe. The collection was presented, as mentioned, at Terrada Souko on Tennozu Island in Tokyo Bay, along with the Overseas Tour, created by the Geneva-based Maison in collaboration with renowned photographer Steve McCurry, who was present at the event. Guests admired the images of the first six stages of McCurry's journey, namely Japan, China, New York, Mexico, India and the Vacheron Constantin Manufacture in Geneva. The guests had the privilege of discovering a preview of the new Overseas World Time watches and trying out the innovative Overseas clasp system with its interchangeable strap. For the occasion, the celebrated cosmopolitan chef Yamada proposed an extraordinary culinary experience, an expression of the deep roots of Japanese cuisine. Having trained at the three-star El Bulli restaurant in Catalonia, the chef runs 'Yamada Chikara', a cosy restaurant in a quiet street in Tokyo's Minami-Azabu district, where he creates unique fusion dishes. The evening was enlivened by a special performance by the group METAFIVE, an established electronic pop band made up of music greats such as Yukihiro Takahashi, Keigo Oyamada, Yoshinori Sunahara, Towa Tei, Tomohiko Gondo and singer Leo Imai, who concluded the event in style, making the presentation of Vacheron Constantin's new Overseas timepiece collection truly unforgettable. Finally, the last 6 stages of the Overseas Tour were announced. The tour took in Morocco, Scotland, Ethiopia, Uzbekistan, France and Russia, where Steve McCurry photographed little-known and sometimes inaccessible sites that express the values of Vacheron Constantin. To highlight the international launch of the new Overseas collection, a dedicated website has been created (overseas.vacheron-constantin.com), which allows you to explore the theme of travel, characteristic of the new timepieces. Photo galleries, 360° videos and the "making of" show the extraordinary locations of the formidable Overseas Tour immortalised by the great photographer Steve McCurry. The complete series of Overseas models and their technical characteristics are presented in dedicated videos and sections.
