Travel', although associated with the idea of escaping from everyday life, does in fact require careful planning. It is in this spirit that Vacheron Constantin has created the Overseas Dual Time timepiece, part of a collection inspired by travel. Every detail in this watch has been designed with the variables that punctuate a globetrotter's day in mind, interpreted in a practical, useful and highly refined way. The Overseas Dual Time is therefore the perfect travel companion around the world, thanks to the excellent legibility of the new black dial, the easy adjustment of the functions and the versatility of the bracelet and two interchangeable straps that allow it to be worn in all circumstances. Inside the 41 mm steel case beats the self-winding IWC-manufactured 5110 DT calibre, derived from the 5100. Its special feature is the simultaneous reading of two time zones. Alongside the local time indicated by the classic central hand, a second central hand ending in a red arrow shows the reference time, together with a day/night indicator. The date hand, which runs on a counter at 6 o'clock, is synchronised with the local time and is adjustable via a push-button. The two 12-hour time zones can be adjusted via the crown in either direction. The calibre 5110 DT, with its 234 components, beats at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) and is characterised by a 60-hour power reserve, guaranteed by the use of a double barrel and 22-carat gold oscillating weight, decorated with a compass rose and visible through the sapphire glass on the case back. The main aim was to create a timepiece that could be worn on all occasions and was extremely legible. In contrast to the new glossy black lacquered dial, the gold hands and indices stand out even more. To underline the high precision of this 'instrument', a double minute and seconds scale appears on the circumference. On the 41 mm steel case, made unmistakable by the collection's emblematic hexagonal bezel, the crown and date button are sealed to guarantee water-resistance to 150 metres. This Overseas Dual Time offers all the qualities of a timepiece with character and charm, plus the versatility provided by the bracelet and two interchangeable straps. Without the need for tools, the watch can be worn with the steel bracelet with polished/satin links whose shape is inspired by the Maltese cross, or with an alligator or rubber strap.
