After his launch from the stratosphere in 2012, extreme sports enthusiast Felix Baumgartner, a Zenith testimonial, is about to take up a new challenge. The Austrian athlete, who has obtained a racing licence, will in fact participate in the Nürburgring-Nordschleife on 21 and 22 June, driving the Audi R8 LMS. His teammates are no less illustrious: five-time Le Mans winner Frank Biela (D), three-time Le Mans winner Marco Werner (D), and sports car and GT driver Pierre Kaffer (D) will alternate with him in the cockpit. "This adventure is extraordinarily exciting and I am looking forward to racing at the wheel of an Audi," said Felix Baumgartner. "During the initial tests in the Audi R8 road car, I got to know the Nürburgring circuit and also drove a few kilometres on various tracks with the Audi R8 LMS ultra. I consider this project one of the most important of my life. The environment is perfect, the atmosphere fantastic and in this racing experience with Audi I feel very well supported. But it is also clear that I am practically starting from scratch, because this sport is new to me. Once again, El Primero Stratos Flyback Striking 10th, the first watch to break the wall of sound in October 2012, will accompany Felix Baumgartner on his new venture.
