Hallmark of Geneva for Cartier

Punzone di Ginevra per Cartier

News these hours is the obtaining of the prestigious Geneva Seal by Cartierone of the best-known houses in the haute horlogerie scene. The occasion was Cartier Horlogerie's relocation to Geneva, where its craftsmen developed and signed the calibre 9452 MC, awarded the renowned hallmark. The latter, considered the symbol of horological perfection, was invented in the 19th century by a guild threatened by the scourge of counterfeiting and constitutes one of the oldest professional designations. As a reminder, the three essential conditions for its award imply that the movement, exclusively mechanical, must at least be assembled and calibrated in the canton of Geneva; each calibre must meet twelve technical and aesthetic criteria, laid down in the regulations, concerning its design, characteristics, manufacturing quality and finishing; and the calibre must be approved and homologated by the Geneva watch voluntary inspection office, under the supervision of a sworn commission made up of members appointed by the canton's government.
