Seiko - Prospex 'Monster'

For the brand's aficionados, Seiko presents the new re-edition of the Prospex models nicknamed "Monster" because of the grooves that decorate the sides of the bezel and case and resemble a rose of sharp teeth, as well as the particular configuration of indexes on the dial and scale on the bezel that evoke a gaping maw. The collection includes the SRPD25K1, featuring a blue dial and steel bracelet, and the SRPD27K1 with a black dial, bezel and silicone strap. The Prospex Monster is a diver's watch that is water-resistant to 200 metres, a professional diver's watch equipped with the self-winding Calibre 4R36 with a manual winding option three hands with a day and date window at 3 o'clock, whose legibility is ensured by a magnifying glass. The steel case has a diameter of 42.4 mm and is fitted with a unidirectional rotating bezel, black in both models, and a hardlex glass. On the dial, indexes and hands are coated with Lumibrite, the double index at 12 o'clock creates a vintage effect, and the screw-locked crown is positioned at 4 o'clock. The power reserve is 41 hours. After more than 50 years of investment and research in the field of diving watches, Seiko's list of successes is impressive: from the first use of titanium for the case, to the invention of the corrugated accordion strap, more elastic and comfortable, to the double case, to the oversized indexes and hands with their incomparable legibility, Seiko has always been at the forefront of this sector, of which it has signed some important pages of history. In 1965, it produced Japan's first diver's watch and only three years later, in 1968, it launched the first diver's watch water-resistant to 300 metres, featuring a high-precision Hi-Beat automatic movement with 10 vibrations per second.
