In 1980, with the creation of a gold watch with a rubber strap, Hublot transgressed all the rules and laid the foundations of its vision of Haute Horlogerie. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the launch of the first watch, the Maison reinvents the 1980 Classic Original, emblematic of its revolutionary approach. Balancing past and future, watchmaking tradition and technical innovation, this 2020 edition comes in a mechanical version. On this subject, Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot, said: "These Classic Fusion watches represent 40 years marked by technical advances and the disruption of conventions. We have not contented ourselves with re-presenting the 1980 Classic Original, but have reinterpreted it to represent Hublot as it is today. A model with a mechanical movement for men, in the 45 mm size. An unprecedented contemporary version celebrating the innovative approach that has characterised Hublot for four decades". The new Classic Fusion expresses the timeless elegance and refinement of the 1980 Classic Original. The glossy black lacquered dial leaves room for the facetted hands, the Hublot logo and the "H" logo. The 45 mm case in yellow gold, titanium or black ceramic includes the famous "H" shaped screws and a sapphire crystal case back, all complemented by the ever-present rubber strap, easily adjustable to the wrist and offering great comfort thanks to its triple folding clasp. Combining original design and comfort, the 1980 Classic Original immediately seduced the public of connoisseurs in search of different watchmaking products. Carlo Crocco, founder of Hublot, wanted it to be practical, resistant and wearable in all circumstances. Hublot was the first watch brand to dare to combine gold, a precious material, with rubber, a modern material developed by the brand. Such different materials that it was unimaginable that they could be combined harmoniously. The origins of the Art of Fusion were thus discovered, an exploratory approach to materials, driven by the technological research and audacity that has characterised Hublot for 40 years.
