Bulgari is credited with bringing Gérald Genta's famous "Mickey Mouse", an icon of the 1980s and 1990s, back into the limelight, relaunched in 2021 in the Arena Retrograde Smiling Mickey Mouse version. One year on, the watch returns in a new version in which the famous Disney character plays football. And it is hardly a coincidence that it is being unveiled to coincide with the start of the World Cup.
As in the last version, there is a jumping hour display (in this case at 10 o'clock) and Mickey's arm serves as the retrograde minute hand. In the new version, however. the retrograde date is added at Mickey Mouse's feet. The movement is the BVL300 calibre with a 42-hour power reserve.
The 41 mm case of the Arena Bi-retro in steel is combined with a mother-of-pearl dial, on which the coloured motifs of the mouse and ball are composed of 14 plates, using the pad printing technique. Certain areas of the design are then coated with transparent enamel, which gives a brilliant finish, as well as adding brightness and volume to specific details. In all, more than 20 different manual processes are required. The strap is made of textured red rubber. Limited edition of 200 pieces.
