Baselworld 2016 preview
Girard-Perregaux Laureate

GP Laureato_Quadrante BLUA classic in Girard-Perregaux watchmaking, the Laureato was born in 1975, "stealing" its name from the famous film starring Dustin Hoffman. There was something daring about it, just like the film that inspired it: from its innovative shape, with its octagonal bezel and integrated bracelet, to the adoption of a quartz movement, experimenting for the first time with a frequency of 32,768 Hz, now adopted as standard. Over the years, mechanical evolution and the presence of complications would also change the aesthetics. In 2016, the company proposed a new variant that took up the original design and was produced in 225 pieces. The adoption of steel enshrines the original sporting soul of this model. The "bâtons" hands are those of the original model, while the navy blue dial echoes the first editions from 1975 with a clou de Paris mini damier motif. The movement is the automatic GP03300-0030 calibre. Price: 14,900 euros.
