Bolaffi Auctions in Milan on 3 October

diamante rosaA pink diamond, a Kashmir sapphire and iconic creations by international maisons, from Bulgari and Van Cleef & Arpels to Schlumberger for Tiffany, make up the catalogue of the autumn jewellery sale by Aste Bolaffi, scheduled to take place in Milan on 3 October at the Grand Hotel et de Milan. Among the 478 lots up for auction, preceded by a catalogue dedicated to watches, the top lots are a rare "Fancy Light Pink" diamond ring of 3.66 carats IF purity (lot 478, auction base Euro 360,000) and an emerald-cut diamond ring of 5.29 carats, D colour, VVS2 purity (lot 476, auction base Euro 130,000). The 3 October sale opens with a section dedicated to watches. Among these, the most valuable lots are the 1973 Rolex Oyster Cosmograph Daytona (base Euro 32,000), the gold Breguet Tourbillon wristwatch (from Euro 25,000), and two early 20th century pocket watches, a Lecoultre and a Tiffany with chronograph (from Euro 5,000 each). Coloured stones include a 4.31-carat Colombian emerald ring (lot 475, base €20,000) and an unmarked Kashmir sapphire ring with a platinum and diamond setting from the 1920s (lot 477, base €15,000). "With its velvety, intense and unique colour, Kashmir is the most sought-after and appreciated among sapphires," explains Maria Carla Manenti, expert in the jewellery department. "When talking about sapphires, this is the gemstone to refer to. The auction also presents an investment lot consisting of four unmounted brilliant-cut diamonds, all pure and F-coloured with carats from 1.01 to 4.04 (lot 468, from €170,000). A cascade of diamonds weighing approximately 31 carats sparkles in the articulated flower necklace (lot 473, from €27,000). Also of interest is the antique rivière necklace with 48 Old European cut diamonds in scaled order, for a total of around 23 carats (lot 388, from €20,000): the central diamonds are unscrewable and can be mounted on two rings, a brooch and a pair of earrings. The same versatility is also found in the 4.50-carat diamond ring with a bezel that can be unscrewed and used as a pendant with a contemporary setting included (lot 386, base price €13,000). In the selection of signed jewellery, together with iconic pieces such as the "Spiga" choker and the "Tubogas" watch-bracelet, the Bulgari Maison is represented by a precious pair of baguette-cut diamond earrings with a total weight of approximately 20 carats (lot 474, base Euro 15 thousand). Also of great charm is Schlumberger's brooch for Tiffany, a flower in sapphires and diamonds with movable petals that can be unfolded or gathered according to the wearer's taste (lot 461, base price €7,000). By Harry Winston, on the other hand, one of the most renowned jewellers in the world, a brooch in sapphires and diamonds of refined workmanship is proposed (lot 457, base Euro 10,000).
