BaselWorld 2015 - Patek Philippe Ref. 5370

1BAmong the Patek Philippe novelties presented at BaselWorld 2015 is this split-seconds chronograph, Reference 5370. Split-seconds chronographs, i.e. chronographs that can also measure intermediate times, have always been part of the Patek Philippe tradition, and are among the Swiss company's most popular complications for collectors. The movement used is the CHR 29-535-PS calibre (312 components, 34 jewels, 28,800 vibrations per hour, Gyromax balance, Breguet overcoil hairspring), a hand-wound mechanical movement equipped with two column wheels and visible through the sapphire crystal porthole caseback (a platinum caseback is also available, interchangeable with the one with the porthole). The chronograph pushers are located in the canonical 2 and 4 o'clock positions, while the one assigned to the split-seconds function is coaxial with the winding crown. The case is in 950 platinum and has a diameter of 41 millimetres; water resistance is guaranteed up to 3 atmospheres of pressure. The dial, made of gold and enamelled in black, also shows the tachymeter scale. The strap is made of crocodile leather and is combined with a 950 platinum folding clasp.
