Bulova Accutron Spaceview Limited Edition

Bulova presents a limited edition of 300 pieces of a new Accutron Spaceview, which is offered in a special box containing the book 'Accutron: From the Space Age to the Digital Age', published by Assouline. The book tells the story of Accutron timepieces from their first appearance (1960) to the present day. Written by Jack Forster (director of Hodinkee), Aaron Sigmond and with a foreword by renowned industrial designer Carl Gustav Magnusson, the book is a collector's item that delves not only into the history of Accutron and the underlying technology, but also into the Accutron lifestyle and the new era of precision timepieces. The book is divided into six chapters that deal in depth with the creation and design of Accutron, the role of one of the most important innovations in watchmaking history, participation in the first major phase of space exploration, collaboration with the US military and much more. "Accutron is recognised as one of the most desired brands in the world and we are proud to showcase its continuing legacy within the pages of this beautiful book," says Prosper Assouline, co-founder of the publishing house that bears his name. "To have the opportunity to collaborate with a watchmaking legend, right on his important anniversary, is a special honour that we can share with our readers for years to come." The book is available for purchase both on its own for $75 on the website www.assouline.comor in a special package combining book and watch. The watch has a 43.5 mm polished steel case and encloses a dial with characteristic green details; the strap is black leather with green stitching. The movement used is an absolute innovation: the first electrostatic Accutron calibre. The limited and numbered edition case is available for $4,000 at www.hodinkee.com and at authorised dealers.
