The movement is the manual L101.1 calibre: 'With three classic complications, the IWC-manufactured L101.1 calibre is one of our most complex movements. Each of them is a technical masterpiece, but their combination represents an even greater challenge. Both for our designers and our watchmakers, as the adjustment and fine-tuning of all the mechanisms require a very high degree of sensitivity and technical expertise," said Anthony de Haas, Director of Product Development at A. Lange & Söhne.

With the help of the superimposed central pair of chronograph hands and the split-seconds hand, an indefinite number of intermediate times can be measured within one minute. In addition to taking into account the different lengths of the months during the calendar year, the perpetual calendar also takes into account all leap years up to the year 2100.

The moon phase display reproduces the period of the synodic revolution so accurately that it requires a correction of only one day in 122.6 years. It also features a 42-hour power reserve display.

The dial design of this example is inspired by the great tradition of A. Lange & Söhne pocket watches. After the Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon of 2019 and the Lange 1 Perpetual Calendar of 2021, this is the third watch from A. Lange & Söhne with an 18-carat rose gold dial. Again, the warm hue creates an elegant contrast to the white gold of the case.
