Chopard - Superfast Collection

Chopard's Classic Racing collection, which brings together models inspired by the world of motor racing, has been enriched with three new models that signify the beginning of a new era for Chopard. These are the Superfast Automatic, the Superfast Power Reserve and the Superfast Chronograph, the first models in this iconic collection to be equipped with Chopard movements entirely designed, developed and assembled in-house in the Fleurier Ebauches workshops. For several years now, the Maison Chopard has been a faithful partner of legendary classic car races such as the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique and the Mille Miglia, the rally that winds its way over 1,000 miles (1,600 km), from Brescia to Rome and back. The former sees lined up on the starting blocks the cars that marked their era, such as Delage, Bugatti, Aston Martin and Ferrari, while the latter also calls together Formula 1 single-seaters built before 1979, such as Brabham, Lotus and Williams in the lead. There is no shortage of references to the world of motor racing in the three new Superfasts. Starting with the dial of each of the models, which features a decoration of vertical anthracite stripes on a black background, reminiscent of the famous 'racing stripes', the coloured bands affixed to the bonnet and roof of the cars to distinguish them from one another. On the flange of the new Superfasts, the minute numbers adopt the graphics of the rev counters and speed indicators of vintage cars. Similarly, the hour, minute and seconds counters recall the dashboards of racing cars of those years. The bracelet in natural rubber with an 18-carat pink gold folding clasp (the same material used for the case) echoes the smooth tread of slick tyres, a clear reference to Formula 1. Numerous other elements, such as the racing wheel on the rubber-coated gold crown, the engraved knurling on the flanks of the lugs, the pushers resembling cooling fins, and the Allen screws on the bezel inspired by those on the rims, all recall the world of motor racing. The new Superfast Automatic offers the hour, minute, seconds and calendar functions inside a window at 6 o'clock and is equipped with the Chopard 01.01-M self-winding calibre, entirely designed, developed and manufactured in the Fleurier Ebauches workshops. The watch, chronometer-certified by the COSC, guarantees a 60-hour power reserve The 41 mm diameter case in 18-carat rose gold is water-resistant to 100 metres. Another version of this movement has been incorporated into the Superfast Power Reserve model. Christened Chopard 01.02-M, this evolution of the previous calibre displays the hours, minutes and small seconds at 6 o'clock, the calendar inside a window at 3 o'clock and the power reserve in a section at 9 o'clock. The 18-carat rose gold case has a diameter of no less than 45 mm. The Superfast Chronograph also has a 45 mm-diameter case and houses Chopard Calibre 03.05-M, a self-winding mechanical movement offering the hour, minute and small seconds functions at 6 o'clock, calendar in a window between 4 and 5 o'clock, tachymeter scale engraved on the bezel and chronograph with central seconds hand, minute counter at 3 o'clock and hour counter at 9 o'clock.
