SMUGGLING: CHINESE MAN ARRESTED IN CATANIA WITH A THOUSAND WATCHES

CONTRABBANDO: CINESE ARRESTATO A CATANIA CON MILLE OROLOGI

Catania, 3 May - A Chinese man caught in possession of more than a thousand watches from the most important Swiss watchmakers, including Rolex, Patek Philippe, MontBlanc, Omega, Bulgari, and Iwc, was arrested in Catania by soldiers of the Guardia di Finanza, who have launched an investigation to ascertain whether the goods are counterfeit. The watches, however, appear to be of excellent workmanship. The man is charged with receiving stolen goods and aggravated smuggling. The watches, if original, are worth around half a million euro. If 'counterfeit', the value on the black market is around two hundred thousand euro.

The photo also shows our magazine, L'Orologio, which is used by the Guardi di Finanza to find out what models are newly produced and what the market trends are.
