Glashütte Original pays tribute to Alfred Helwig

A limited edition of just 25 pieces is the watch made by Glashütte Original in honour of Alfred Helwig, Glashütte's master watchmaker to whom we owe the invention of the flying tourbillon in 1920. Declined in a pink gold case, this model features the tourbillon on the back of the movement, in keeping with the tradition of the historic timepieces of the Helwig era. The calibre in question is the hand-wound 54-01, which offers a power reserve of no less than 100 hours and is characterised by numerous decorations and finishes, such as the "sunray" decoration in the barrel cover, the Glashütte ribbon decoration in the 3/4 plate, blued screws and screw-mounted gold bezels, as well as many polished steel parts. The dial is made of solid gold and features a chemin de fer minute track on the flange, applied baton hour markers and filigreed pink gold baton hands, and a seconds indicator at 6 o'clock that bears the inscription 'Tourbillon'. A brown Louisiana alligator strap with a pin buckle secures the watch to the wrist. The Alfred Helwig Tourbillon 1920 - Limited Edition is on sale for 123,100 euros.
