With the Premier Monkey Automatic 36mm, Harry Winston pays tribute to the Chinese New Year which will open on 8 February under the sign of the monkey. The silhouette of this animal, the ninth of the Chinese zodiac, makes its appearance on a delicate pink mother-of-pearl dial, embellished with 24-carat gold sequins. Made of openworked yellow gold with a "cut-out" effect, a technique reminiscent of Jianzhi, the Chinese art of paper-cutting linked to a folk tradition dating back a thousand years, the little monkey appears to cling to the pink gold bezel at 9 o'clock; its tail, on the other hand, sinuously wraps around an emerald-cut diamond set at 12 o'clock. A naturally smaller diamond reproduces the animal's eye. The sapphire crystal on the case back shows off the HW2008 calibre, a self-winding mechanical movement, that equips the watch. The strap is in black satin. Limited edition of eight pieces.
