Long life to the watch is the preamble to the importance of original spare parts for the longevity and optimum functionality of a watch - essential and indispensable parts. This is why we will never cease to recommend that people entrust their property exclusively to those who are able to ensure these supplies and the painstaking work associated with them. It is inevitable that, after a watch has been in use for five, six or more years, there are parts of the mechanism that need to be replaced, because they are worn or no longer in the state to guarantee optimal functionality. Even a banal gasket that is not original, and therefore not compliant, will in time be unable to guarantee water resistance to immersions or situations of particular humidity, with the well-known negative consequences for the mechanism. A serious and dangerous matter concerns counterfeiting: glasses, mechanical parts and accessories are often passed off as originals while they are perfect imitations even, and above all, of well-known Swiss brands, even sold in blister packs as authentic ones. It has happened that we have seen a complete movement, a perfect replica of an original and very popular calibre... And the same goes for cases or bracelets, discovered only after careful examination of the materials at the Swiss factory where they were manufactured and which escaped at least two previous checks, so perfect were they. We are not here to investigate, nor do we want to apportion blame, but only to reiterate that you should choose with confidence the workshops to which you entrust your watch. We have been saying for decades that ours is the work that, more than any other, has its fundamental cornerstones based on trust and honesty. And it is these two things that you should look for first in a watchmaker. In addition to trust and honesty, then, necessarily important are competence, professionalism, skills, documentation and certification of the schools and courses taken and passed at the Swiss watchmakers. Only in this way can you be sure that that workshop will have free access to the original parts, the essential lifeblood of your precious companion, guaranteeing a work in a workmanlike manner worthy of the brand that put so much work into making that watch.
