The 'heart' in plain sight of Zenith

The Zenith Chronomaster El Primero "Full Open" automatic chronograph reveals its mechanics through a completely open, skeletonised dial. This full opening enables a visual appreciation of the movement's high frequency, the signature of the legendary El Primero, an integrated column-wheel automatic chronograph with 326 components (including 31 jewels), beating at a frequency of 5 Hz (36,000 vibrations per hour), for a precision measured and displayed to a tenth of a second. Characteristics inherited from its illustrious ancestor, the world's most accurate series-production chronograph, designed by Zenith in 1969. The current mechanism retains some of the characteristics of the early days: the date window is positioned - for the 38 mm version - at 4:30, as on the original, and the famous blue, identical to that of the historical version, is retained. In combination with the other two colours - dark grey and rhodium - the three galvanic shades match and enhance the movement. Three counters complete the ensemble: at 3 o'clock the 30-minute counter, at 6 o'clock the 12-hour counter, and at 9 o'clock the small seconds counter, which also allows the smooth running of the movement to be checked. A silvered flange, white and black minute-circle, luminescent facetted hour-markers and hands ensure optimal legibility without obstructing the view of the gear-trains; the Zenith signature is decalised in the centre, inside the sapphire crystal. As for the case, the design respects that of the historic 1969 El Primero Chronograph case. The case back is visible. Offered in two diameters - 38 mm and 42 mm in steel or two-tone steel with an 18K pink gold bezel, alligator strap (black for the steel version and brown for the two-tone pink gold version) or metal bracelet, this new chronograph ensures an autonomy of more than 50 hours and is guaranteed water-resistant to a pressure of 10 atmospheres.
