IWC - IWC Big Pilot's Watch Big Date Spitfire Edition 'Mission Accomplished'.

IWC presents a Special Edition to commemorate the "Silver Spitfire - The Longest Flight" mission. During the second half of last year, two British pilots circumnavigated the globe aboard a Spitfire for the first time in aviation history. For the occasion, Schaffhausen-based Csa, the mission's main partner, created an aviator's watch to pay tribute to this record-breaking flight, carried out by Steve Boultbee Brooks and Matt Jones. On 5 August 2019, the two British pilots took off from Goodwook Aerodrome in southern England in a beautifully restored 'Silver Spitfirre'. During their record-breaking four-month flight, they covered more than 43,000 km and made stopovers in more than twenty countries. The IWC Big Pilot's Watch Big Date Spitfire Edition 'Mission Accomplished' (Ref. IW510506) is produced in a limited edition of 500 pieces. An engraving on the back of the case, which is made of titanium and also features a power reserve display, commemorates the success of this extraordinary flight, for which the Swiss watchmaker was the Official Timekeeper. The watch has a bronze case 45.2 mm in diameter by 15.2 mm thick, water-resistant to a pressure of 6 atmospheres. A soft iron inner case protects the movement from the influences of magnetic fields. On the green dial, there is also a large date display at 12 o'clock. The movement used is the IWC-manufactured 59235 calibre (28.00 vibrations per hour, 30 jewels, 8-day power reserve), mechanical with automatic winding. Finally, the sapphire crystal protecting the dial is specially secured against any sudden drop in pressure that might occur in the cockpit.
