Jaquet Droz and his light games

Jaquet Droz revisits one of its iconic models with a new aesthetic that takes the principle behind the skeleton movement to the extreme: the minimum of matter for the maximum of light. Thus was born the Grande Seconde Skelet-One Tourbillon, whose structure features straight lines, angles and a resolutely modern symmetry, with black-finished bridges that give the watch its matt look, and a tourbillon cage with a triple cross shape that aligns with the bridges once a minute. The hands, including the seconds hand attached to the tourbillon cage, have been redesigned to be more elegant and streamlined and run on two dials set at two different levels, the first of which, in sapphire crystal, comprises the seconds, hours and minutes circle with applied gold hour markers. This airy architecture is supported by a second, almost invisible, smoky quartz dial. Transparencies and plays of light bring out the figure-of-eight shape typical of the Grande Seconde collection, while making it easier to read the time. The fully visible Jaquet Droz 2625SQ movement is housed inside a 41 mm red gold case. Also in red gold is the skeleton oscillating weight visible on the caseback but almost invisible on the dial, which gives the Skelet-One Tourbillon a 7-day power reserve. Price: 158,000 euros.
