The new Seiko Prospex sports collection

Seiko presents the re-edition of a historic model known on the Japanese market as the "Alpinist": launched and produced for a brief period in the early 1960s, it won over fans of the brand in its version with a green dial, first presented in 1995 and then in an updated version in 2006. The models in the current Prospex collection, which picks up on the aesthetic lines of the 2006 design, feature a 39.5 millimetre diameter steel case with a screw-down crown positioned at 3 o'clock, which is entrusted with the functions of setting the hours and date and is flanked by a second crown at 4 o'clock useful for setting the compass, with the corresponding indications placed on the flange. The dials display the hours, minutes (with Lumibrite-coated hands) and seconds functions, as well as the date positioned at 3 o'clock with a magnifying glass to ensure maximum legibility. All models are fitted with anti-reflective sapphire crystal. The colour of the dials - black, white or green - varies depending on the model. In black is the bracelet version, with the hours marked by triangular hour markers, positioned in correspondence with a second parallel scale of circular hour markers coated with Lumibrite. On the white and classic green dials, the hours alternate between hour markers and Arabic numerals (12, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10) with a gold finish on the green version. The straps are smooth black leather and brown crocodile-print leather with folding clasp, respectively. The movement used is the self-winding Calibre 6R35, with a power reserve of up to 70 hours.
