The reinterpretation of the Longines Type A-7

Longines revisits one of the flagships of its heritage with a new version of The Longines Avigation Watch Type A-7 1935. Faithful to the original model ordered by the US Air Force in 1935 (as its name suggests), this new chronograph is distinguished by its black dial, offset by 40° to the right. The latter's particular orientation allowed pilots to read the indications without having to take their hands off the aircraft's cloche. Another common element is the knurled crown at 12 o'clock, used at the time to control the start, stop and reset functions by simply pressing the single button and wearing pilot's gloves. Also echoing the specifications of the historical model, the matte black dial on which the large Arabic numerals and chemin de fer minute track stand out guarantees optimum readability, thanks also to the SuperLuminova coating on the cathedral hands. The current model, which joins the version with a white lacquered dial presented in 2016, is equipped with a steel case 41 millimetres in diameter and a mechanical self-winding column-wheel movement, calibre L788.2 (ETA A08.L11 base), exclusively developed for Longines. Suggested retail price: €3,340.
