H. Moser & Cie.'s response to the new 'Swiss Made' ordinance

The partial revision of the 'Swiss Made' watch ordinance, approved by the Swiss Federal Council, came into force on 1 January this year. The ordinance stipulates that, in order to bear the Swiss Made label, from now on 60% of a watch's production must be made in Switzerland (under the previous legislation, the figure was 50%). The percentage refers to component and assembly costs. In controversy with the new legislation, H. Moser & Cie. launches a new provocation, following the Swiss Alp Watch, the anti-smartwatch par excellence. The Neuhausen am Rheinfall-based company, which presented the Venturer Swiss Mad watch a few days ago, has decided to remove the Swiss Made label from the dial of all new watches created from 2017 onwards. "We are no longer 'Swiss Made', we are Swiss," told Edouard Meylan, CEO of the Maison. "Swiss 100% in the Swiss Mad watch case and Swiss for over 95% in all other models, in which, only the straps are made abroad." The hand-wound HMC 327 manufacture calibre is the Swiss 100% heart of this watch. The movement, visible through the sapphire back, has a power reserve of at least three days, indicated by an indicator on the opposite side of the watch. The Venturer Swiss Mad, in white gold with a cowhide strap, is available in a limited edition of 50.
