MB&F: the Legacy Machine evolves

MB&F brings out the LM Perpetual Evo, a novelty that combines a case in zirconium, a shiny silver-grey metal with properties superior to those of stainless steel and titanium, with an integrated rubber strap. Although the 44 mm diameter remains unchanged from the 2015 version, the Evo features a bezel-less construction with a domed sapphire crystal joined directly to the case. The greater openness of this model emphasises the balance between the legibility of the indications provided by the perpetual calendar and the kinematic action of the movement components, topped by MB&F's iconic suspended balance. The circular buttons for adjusting the calendar previously used have been enlarged to become oblong double-spring actuators, improving comfort to the touch and ease of adjustment. For the first time in the history of the brand's creations, the LM Perpetual Evo offers water resistance to 80 metres, made possible by the screw-down crown. Another new element is the FlexRing: this is an annular shock-absorber inserted between the case and the movement, providing protection against shocks along the vertical and lateral axis. Made from a single block of stainless steel, it gives the perpetual calendar optimal robustness. The LM Perpetual, which was designed by Stephen McDonnell, uses a 'mechanical processor' consisting of a series of superimposed discs and based on a predefined number of 28 days, since clearly all months have at least 28, and then adds the additional days of each individual month. This ensures that each month has exactly the correct number of days and eliminates the possibility of the date changing incorrectly. There are three colour options for the PVD/CVD dial: one in black, one in blue and the very last one featuring a very bright and hard-to-get orange shade. Each of the three shades is produced in a limited series of 15 pieces to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Maison.
