MB&F - Moonmachine

Created by Stepan Sarpaneve, for the MB&F Performance Art Pieces series, the Moonmachine is based on a model already made for Max Busser by the Finnish master watchmaker, the HM3 Frog, now transformed with a spectacular moon phase display. The face of the moon, set in a firmament of stars, opens at 6 o'clock, topped by two large domes in sapphire crystal and aluminium with rotating spheres for displaying hours and minutes. The multi-layered Northern Sky rotor adds an incredible star-studded background to the hand-finished twin moon faces (the Big and Little Dipper, which also includes the North Star, can be distinguished). The movement with a three-dimensional motor was developed by Jean-Marc Wiederrecht of Agenhor and made on a Girard-Perregaux base modified by Stepan Sarpaneva. The version in a black titanium case with white gold moon phase and blue sky is produced in a limited series of 18.
