Montblanc - Heritage Pythagore Small Second

Numerous Montblanc models were launched at Watches and Wonders 2021: from the new watch dedicated to Reynold Messner and desert exploration, to the Minerva chronographs, to the surprise of an unexpected novelty, marking the return of the Pythagore movement and representing the House's new haute horlogerie entry price. It is a solotempo model signed Montblanc and, with a secret signature on the dial (between 4 and 5), also Minerva. We are talking about the Heritage Pythagore Small Second, equipped with the new in-house calibre MB M14.08 (diameter 31.6 mm, thickness 4.07 mm, 18,000 vibrations per hour, 19 jewels, power reserve of around 80 hours, plate and bridges in nickel silver), a hand-wound mechanical movement whose geometric shapes are reminiscent of the historic Calibre 48 Minerva Pythagore of the 1940s. The idea behind the calibre 48 Minerva was to position the bridges by adopting the mathematical proportions defined by the golden section (φ = 1.618...). This discovery is attributed to Pythagoras, who studied the mathematics behind the beauty of nature to recreate its aesthetic harmony. Regarding the use of 18-carat gold (pink or white) for the 39 mm case, Laurent Lecamp, new Director of Montblanc's Watch Division, said: "I think the product is very competitive and the precious material keeps it at a high level. We have been thinking and are still thinking about the possibility of making it in steel. It is not certain whether we will do it or not, because the price is already inviting for the Villeret collection'. Still inspired by the historical Minerva timepieces of the 1940s and 1950s, special care has also been taken with the dials (burnt caramel for the pink gold model and blue for the white gold model), which feature technical finishes such as two-tone decorations, convex shape and lacquering. These are protected by a domed anti-reflective sapphire crystal. The watch is produced in a limited edition of 148 pieces for each colour of gold.

Price: 19,000 euro.
