Omega presents a new anti-magnetic tourbillon

Throughout its history, Omega has earned a special place within the art of the tourbillon device. Today, with the launch of the new numbered edition De Ville Tourbillon, the Bienne-based company adds a new chapter to this important history. Indeed, this new timepiece from Omega is the first hand-wound central tourbillon to be Master Chronometer certified. Not only does this certification ensure the highest industry standard for precision and performance, but it also confirms the expertise of Omega's watchmakers, who have created a tourbillon cage capable of rotating even under the influence of a magnetic field of 15,000 gauss. The company's watchmakers have set the speed of the tourbillon to one revolution per minute, allowing the seconds to be displayed, which is essential for achieving certification. Enthusiasts can admire the Omega Co-Axial Master Chronometer calibre 2640 through the sapphire crystal case back, along with the 72-hour power reserve display. The bridges and central plate are made of 18-carat Sedna gold and have been hand-ground to achieve a decorative finish. Paired with a black leather strap, the new Omega De Ville Tourbillon features a 43 mm case in 18 Ct Sedna gold, with a logo on the buckle and crown in 18 Ct Canopus gold, an exclusive white gold alloy distinguished by its brilliance and longevity. The sun-brushed dial is made of 18-carat Sedna gold and has undergone a black PVD treatment that produces an eye-catching dark hue. Unmistakably, the centre of the dial houses the tourbillon cage, with its polished bevelled hands in ceramicised titanium. The ingenious device drives the movement of the mysterious hands, which give the timepiece its unmistakable Omega style. Each watch is created by a select group of watchmakers in Omega's Atelier Tourbillon, who take a whole month to complete the work. The new numbered-edition De Ville Tourbillon comes with a 5-year warranty and is accompanied by a special box with a travel case and a watch-winding rotor. Also included is the certificate for the watch's individual numbering. Recommended retail price: €168,300 (available in boutiques from July 2020).
