Panerai challenges the unknown

Panerai presents a special edition of the Submersible, in only 5 pieces, which will allow its purchasers to live an adrenaline-filled experience in the Arctic under the supervision of explorer and Ambassador Mike Horn. Available exclusively in the company's boutiques, the Submersible EcoPangaea Tourbillon GMT - 50 mm Mike Horn Edition debuts in the new hi-tech EcoPangaea steel, recycled metal from the propeller shaft of Mike Horn's 35-metre sailing vessel, the Pangaea. The watch, the first in the collection to be equipped with a tourbillon device, is distinguished by a one-way rotating bezel with polished hour markers on a sandblasted base, "Arctic" blue functional details and aesthetic specifications screen-printed on the inner surface of the crystal and on the porthole of the caseback. But also for a 50 mm case, enlarged in diameter to accommodate a soft iron ring inside designed to shield the movement from the negative influence of magnetic fields. The calibre used, in skeletonised titanium, is the P.2005/T, a hand-wound mechanical movement with three barrels in series for a 6-day autonomy and with a 30-second tourbillon that rotates along an axis perpendicular to that of the balance/spiral group. Water-resistant to 30 atmospheres, the Submersible comes with a black rubber strap. A second strap, made of recycled PET material, black with anthracite stitching and Velcro fastening, completes the equipment with a special interchangeable tool, a screwdriver for removing the buckle and a technical box made of recycled plastic.
