Four models are part of the new Tonda PF Sport collection (replacing the Tonda GT collection) launched by Parmigiani Fleurier. Two in a solotempo version with a 41 mm case (available in steel or 18 carat rose gold) and two in a chrono version with a 42 mm case.
What they all have in common is the use of the black rubber strap treated with Cordura, made and sewn by hand. The buckle is always folding, and matched to the case material.
Note the knurled bezel, which unlike the 'normal' versions of the Tonda PF has 160 engravings instead of 225. The silver-toned dial is guilloché engraved with a "grain d'orge" motif and features skeleton Delta hands, combined with geometric indices with black SuperLuminova.
The date window is placed at 6 o'clock on the dial of the three-hand model (in the Tonda GT it was a double window), and between 4 and 5 on the chronograph. The latter employs an eye-catching 'panda' dial, with contrasting black counters, for chrono minutes at 3 o'clock, chrono hours at 6 o'clock and continuous seconds at 9 o'clock.
It is driven by the IWC-manufactured PF070 calibre with integrated chronograph (36,000 vibrations per hour, 315 components, 42 jewels, 6.95 mm thickness, 65-hour power reserve), with a 22-carat gold oscillating weight and skeletonised. It is a self-winding mechanical movement with vertical coupling, column wheel and chronometer certificate issued by the Cosc.
The Tonda PF Sport Automatic, for its part, employs the IWC-manufactured PF770 calibre (28,800 vibrations per hour, 179 components, 29 jewels, 3.9 mm thick), with a 60-hour power reserve. It is a self-winding mechanical movement and also features a 22-carat gold skeletonised rotor.
In this respect, its particular design, inspired by the steering wheel of the legendary Ferrari 250 GTO, is noteworthy. In both models (solotempo or chronograph), the movements are visible from the back side. Finally, all four new Tonda PF Sport watches are water-resistant to a pressure of 10 atmospheres.
