Patek Philippe: the coloured Calatrava

Accents of colour for the more casual Calatrava: three modern and eye-catching versions of Ref. 6007G employing one of Patek Philippe's new-generation movements.

Three models with an informal air compared to the traditional classicism of the Calatrava collection by Patek PhilippeRef. 6007G-001, 6007G-010 and 6007G-011 are characterised by contemporary graphics and touches of colour on the dial. A style reminiscent of Ref. 6007A-001, launched in 2020 to celebrate the new Plan-les-Ouates manufacture. But whereas in that case it was a Calatrava with a steel case (then only the second example of this collection in this metal for Patek Philippe) and a blue dial, Ref. 6007G instead has a case (40 mm in diameter) in white gold and introduces colour changes on the dial.

The ebony-black dials have at their centre the relief engraved motif already introduced on Ref. 6007A, referred to as 'carbon' because it is reminiscent of the classic pattern of carbon fibre, which is also popular in sports watchmaking. Enlivening them are touches of colour - sky blue, red or yellow, depending on the version. The colour characterises the arrow hour markers on the minute circle in the centre of the dial and the flush seconds hand, as well as the stitching and the inner lining of the black calfskin strap with an embossed carbon pattern. White gold hour markers and hands are luminescent.

Compared to Ref. 6007A (with calibre 324), the movement also changes, the automatic calibre 26-330 S C, with a power reserve of 45 hours and a 21-carat gold rotor, visible from the sapphire back side. Introduced in 2019, calibre 26-330 features several innovations and optimisations, all to the benefit of performance and reliability.

Such as the sweep of the seconds hand controlled by a patented nickel-phosphor component, manufactured using the LIGA process (from the German Lithografie, Galvanoformung, Abformung: lithography, galvanoplasty, moulding) and coated with a layer of gold, copper and indium, which avoids the possible risk of flickering of the hand while reducing friction.

Then there is the 'seconds stop' device, or more precisely the balance stop, which acts instantaneously when the crown is pulled out to the time-setting position. It is thus possible to set the time to the second.
