Perrelet gets a makeover

Perrelet has worked extensively on the creation of a new-generation movement, the P-331-MH calibre. Made in Soprod, a company belonging to the Festina group to which the Bienne-based company also belongs, it benefits from substantial modifications compared with its predecessor: the escapement wheel teeth have an improved finish; the pallet fork is equipped with higher-quality rubies to offer enhanced performance; the new lubrication system for the inverters optimises the performance of the bidirectional winding system; and the balance is fitted with a double-cone Incabloc shock absorber to increase shock protection. The combination of these improvements has enabled the P-331-MH calibre, a mechanical self-winding movement, to obtain Chronofiable certification from Laboratoire Dubois in La Chaux-de-Fonds. This certification assesses the operational reliability of a product through the application of accelerated ageing cycles that best reproduce the real conditions of use. The new movement was subjected to tests on the tensile strength of the crown bezel, resistance to multiple and/or accidental shocks (free-fall test with a violent impact up to 5,000G), as well as exposure to thermal cycles with considerable temperature variations and magnetic fields, to name but a few. In addition, the watches successfully passed the usual water-resistance tests. Having successfully passed these tests, they were later also able to boast Cosc chronometer certification. Perrelet's innovations do not stop here and the manufacture will introduce further interesting innovations during 2021. We will soon present a new collection with a completely new manufacture movement.
