Perrelet chose Las Vegas for the launch of its latest creation born from its partnership with the famous American actor Sung Kang. On 3 June, at the JCK, North America's renowned jewellery show, which this year will include the "Luxury Watch" watch segment, Perrelet presented the new timepiece designed to make it easier for drivers to tell the time. The following day, Perrelet and Sung Kang also had the pleasure of introducing the public to the fruit of their collaboration. Sung Kang, a Korean-born American actor, is one of the best known faces in action films, including the 'Fast & Furious' series where he played the role of Han Lue in four of the seven films shot, as well as 'Die Hard - Live or Die' and 'Ninja Assassin'. The result of the collaboration between the actor and Perrelet is called: 'Turbine Sung Kang', a model specially designed for car drivers. For better legibility when driving, the 12 o'clock position has been off-centred at 2 o'clock, as is typical in watches defined as 'offset'. These watches were created because the cuff of the shirt tends to cover part of the dial. By placing the 12 o'clock at 2 o'clock, the visible part is the one that allows us to easily read the time with our hands at the wheel. The 10-blade turbine, visible from the dial side, is made of anodised aluminium, and underneath it are five tungsten counterweights that allow its oscillating movement and always return the blade with the 'SK' engraving to its initial position, i.e. at 4 o'clock (on a traditional dial it would be at 6 o'clock). The Turbine Sung Kang has a 44mm black PVD-coated steel case with grooves on the caseband and integrated crown, SuperLuminova-coated hands and a yellow central seconds hand. Inside beats the in-house Perrelet P-331 automatic movement with 42 hours of power reserve. The sapphire crystal case back that allows one to admire the finely decorated movement is engraved with the number of pieces produced, which is limited to 350.
