With the market launch of the '1919 Collection' inspired by the clean lines and functional aesthetics of the legendary Porsche 911, Porsche Design has once again set a standard in the field of sporty and elegant watches. The collection pays tribute to the simplicity of the expressive symbolic power of unique design objects, in particular the legendary Porsche 911, conceived 54 years ago by Porsche Design founder Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche. His clean, timeless style, which is based on the combination of design expertise, engineering excellence and technological transpositions of intelligent solutions derived from the automotive world, still influences the philosophy of the Porsche Design brand. While the 'Chronotimer' Collection and the 'Monobloc Actuator', introduced this spring, are characterised by their cutting-edge technology and relevant sporting spirit, the '1919 Collection' embodies a balanced aesthetic that results from the constant focus on functionality. 911 and 1919: two shapes that symbolise pure emotions, because the legendary Porsche 911 and the '1919 Collection' have much in common. Both represent paradigms of minimalist clarity and an exclusive expression of stylistic elegance. Design objects that, through their authenticity, have marked an era while remaining timeless. Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, who also coined the principle that 'good design should be honest', described the secret of success as follows: "If one analyses the function of an object, its form often becomes explicit." A manifesto for consistent design. In this spirit of the designer, the '1919 Collection' demonstrates that eternal form is created by a clear design philosophy and functional lines. A maxim that rings true especially for the '1919 Collection' models. The authentic design of the '1919 Collection' is entirely dedicated to functionality. Its special features are the deeply expressive dial, the use of a super-light yet extremely durable and particularly resistant titanium case, as well as the unmistakable openings between case and strap. These features not only give the watch a remarkable comfort and lightness, but also eliminate the aesthetic flaw between case and strap, due to the shape of the classic lugs, found in most watches. The calibrated structure of the dial places the essence of the watch - to accurately display the time from every angle - at the centre. To fulfil this requirement through the use of a preferably larger dial, the case is designed as thin as possible. The clean Arabic numerals and indices coated with intense Super-Luminova allow intuitive readability even in the most difficult lighting conditions. The watch is equipped with 7 layers of scratch-resistant anti-reflective sapphire glass on both sides, which prevents annoying light reflections. In this autumn 2017, the limited edition "1919 Datetimer One Millionth 911" completes the collection. The watch celebrates the anniversary, which took place in May 2017, of the one millionth model. With its titanium carbide coating, the 42mm titanium case, powered by an in-house Swiss-made automatic movement equipped with Porsche Design's exclusive energy-optimised rotor, is understatedly black. With great attention to detail, sophisticated elegance is reflected: in analogy to the Irish Green body, the second hand lights up the same colour as the bodywork. The Porsche Design emblem on the dial echoes the golden Porsche emblem on the front of the car. The famous 911 silhouette and the lettering '1,000,000 - 911' pay tribute to the anniversary. The strap is handmade from the original leather of the seats. The stitching is also stitched with the same yarn as the interior of the sports cars.
