Sihh 2019 Preview: Roger Dubuis Excalibur Huracàn Performante

For Roger Dubuis, every new day is an adventure, with new challenges, tests to overcome and ambitious goals to achieve. Just like Lamborghini Squadra Corse, the Maison is firmly focused on cutting-edge performance and revolutionary technologies, all fuelled by a high-impact R&D vision to offer customers a unique experience. This set of common denominators was the catalyst for a rousing encounter destined to unleash sparks. Committed to pushing their own limits and defying all known rules, the teams from the Lamborghini Squadra Corse Motorsport department and the Roger Dubuis Manufacture decided to pool their knowledge and expertise. The inevitable adrenalin rush produced by the encounter between visionary engineers and master watchmakers gave shape to the models "Powered by raging mechanics". Today, after one year of this high-octane partnership, the alliance between the best of Made in Italy aesthetics and the high-precision mechanics and instruments for which Switzerland is famous continues. In 2018, inspired by Lamborghini Squadra Corse and the exclusive look of the Huracán Performante destined for the competition of the same name, the Manufacture's Master Watchmakers have created a timepiece that echoes the unmistakable design of the supercar. One of the most striking features of the aggressive Excalibur Huracán Performante is its brand new "engine": the RD630 movement, with its balance tilted by 12 degrees. With clear aesthetic references to the basic lines of the supercar, this timepiece gives pride of place to the hexagon. A versatile geometric figure used to sculpt the volume of the car, in the timepiece, the hexagon appears in various guises, in particular to represent the domino bars. The half hexagon in relief that appears on the air intakes of the Lamborghini Huracán Performante is reproduced, miniaturised, on the Excalibur Huracán Performante and is visible through the skeleton dial. Another special ornament is the new crown inspired by the racing nuts that fasten the wheels of the supercar, an 'energy tank' with a double barrel and a multi-material 'spoiler', used for the ornamental skeleton bridges. Seen from the rear, the circular oscillating mass of the automatic movement also emulates the wheel design of Lamborghini's Huracán family. With the same synergy of performance, lightness and safety as the supercar of the same name, the Excalibur Huracán Performante timepiece sports an unmistakable 'Technical Titan' grey livery complemented by the traditional bright yellow accents, all inspired by the latest version of the car to be launched on the track in 2019. The Excalibur Huracán Performante's original Alcantara strap cover crosses the line with a rubber insert that echoes the tread pattern of the Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R.
