Ressence, the watch brand that continues to challenge the status quo of mechanical watchmaking, introduces the new Type 1 Slim, a slimmer version of the original Type 1. The genesis of the Type 1 Slim begins with the Ressence Orbital Convex System (ROCS). This complex (and patented) mechanical system, developed in-house, consists of discs and rings orbiting each other. This allows a clearer reading of the time: the information is in fact displayed on a single plane, just like words written on a sheet of paper, making it easier to read the time because it is intuitive and two-dimensional. This display differs from that of a traditional watch in which the superimposition of the hands on the dial produces an irregular plane of vision. Consisting of 107 elements, the ROCS's gears calculate the hours and the day of the week by taking energy from the minute wheel of the automatic movement. Presented in 2014, the Type 1 is still Ressence's purest watch. It is clearly distinguished from the rest of the collection by its visual balance, a mix of simplicity and complexity, a timeless design designed not to age over the years. The new case design is not a revolution, rather an evolution. It is not only thinner (11 mm thick) - compared to the previous generation - but also decidedly more elegant with the strap integrated into the case. The lugs and case are milled in a single operation from the same block of grade 5 titanium. The Type 1 Slim is adjusted manually via a lever located on the back of the case. The watch has no crown, for improved ergonomics and perfect wearability on both the left and right wrists. All curves are tactile, and the domed sapphire crystal extends to the edge of the case, making the sapphire surface larger than the metal one, for better legibility. The quest for perfection in mechanical watches undertaken by Ressence is unique and the new Type 1 Slim is a perfect example of the brand's determination to create products in line with the 21st century. The emphasis is not on chronometric precision, but on creating a better product as a whole - taking into account features such as readability, ergonomics and experience.
