Seiko Prospex LX Limited Edition

The dial of this limited edition is inspired by the mysterious underwater forest at the bottom of the lake near Skarvsnes Foreland in Antarctica. The LX line is part of the Seiko Prospex collection from 2019 as the ultimate expression of the Japanese manufacturer's sports watch. This series takes its name from "lux", the word for light in Latin, hinting at the way light is reflected in the large, flat surfaces of the case, giving a special luminosity to the wrist of the wearer. Seiko diver's watches date back to 1965, when the company's first diver's watch was presented, and the first by a Japanese brand. Skarvsnes Foreland is located about 55 kilometres from the Japanese Antarctic research station of Showa. It was in this area that Japanese researchers discovered a mysterious underwater forest composed of moss formations covering the bottom of a nearby lake. As mentioned, the dial of this new limited edition presented by Seiko brings to life the cusps of aquatic moss rising from the bottom of the lake in Skarvsnes Foreland. The green ceramic bezel represents the breath of life long cultivated in the Antarctic soil. The watch design is based on the historic Diver of 1968, Seiko's first diver's watch, which had a water resistance of 300 metres and a Hi-beat movement. The LX line won the Diver's Watch award at the 2019 Geneva Grand Prix d'Horlogerie for its modern aesthetics and high practicality, and with it the approval of watch enthusiasts around the world. The watch, produced in a limited edition of 500 pieces, has a 44.8mm steel case and is water-resistant to a pressure of 30 atmospheres. It employs the Spring Drive calibre 5R65 (30 jewels, 72-hour power reserve), mechanical with automatic winding. Price: 6,100 euros.
