Pontos S Diver returns
by Maurice Lacroix

Maurice Lacroix reissues the Pontos S Diver, a watch presented ten years ago and now reissued in an improved guise.

The occasion for its launch was an event organised last week in Dubrovnik, Croatia, in the presence of Lidija Lijic, a Croatian-born member of the ML Crew and world freediving champion - with an underwater record of 5 minutes and 43 seconds - whom the brand consulted during the development phase of this model.

"In developing this new Pontos S Diver, we wanted to maintain the spirit of the first-generation model, but go beyond performance, further improving the product," explained Stéphane Waser, Managing Director of Maurice Lacroix. "As a member of the ML Crew, it was important to ask Lidija Lijic to test the new model, to explore its potential in depth. Although I already knew of her achievements and her immense talent, I was impressed by her deep dedication not only to the sport, but in everything she does. She proved to be the perfect tester for this diver's watch, waterproof to 30 atm. According to Lidija, an additional merit of the watch would be that it would also stand out in style on dry land!

There are three versions available for this new model devoted to legibility and maximum comfort, and guaranteed water-resistant to a depth of 300 metres: two with a 42 mm steel case and one, in a limited edition of just 500 pieces, with a 42 mm case, but in bronze. And in all cases, distinguished by curved lugs that hug wrists well, even those less generous.

The large black grainé or white lacquered dial with blue or orange details, or blue for the bronze variant, has facetted hour/minute hands coated with SuperLuminova for optimal visibility even under water, as well as raised hour markers. Similarly, the date is framed with a raised edge that distinguishes it from the rest of the dial. On the flange is the internal rotating bezel with the diving scale, set by the crown at 2 o'clock; the one at 3 o'clock, on the other hand, regulates the functions and serves to wind the movement, the ML115 automatic calibre (Sellita SW200-1 base).

The difference between the available fittings also concerns the strap. The two steel models have three straps, one in fabric with the 'M' logo and two in rubber with the Maurice Lacroix logo in relief. For the bronze one, there are two straps, one in vintage dark blue leather with the "M" logo and one in dark blue rubber with the Maurice Lacroix inscription. Finally, the Easy Strap Exchange System allows them to be quickly replaced.

Prices: Pontos S Diver (steel): €2,100; Pontos S Diver (bronze): €2,650.
