Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Perpetual Calendar

Patrimony 43175-000R-B343Presented at the last SIHH, the new Patrimony Perpetual Calendar comes in a pink gold case with a new slate dial. It is powered by the calibre 1120 QP, an ultra-thin mechanical movement with automatic winding. Specifically, the calibre 1120 QP, developed and produced by Vacheron Constantin, offers a central hours and minutes display, moon phase at 6 o'clock, perpetual calendar with the day of the week inside a counter at 9 o'clock, date at 3 o'clock, month and leap year by means of 48-month counters at 12 o'clock. This timepiece will thus be able to adapt to all the particularities of the calendar without requiring any correction until 1 March 2100. Unlike simple calendars, which require manual correction after every month with less than 31 days, the perpetual calendar in fact takes into account the leap year cycles, with months of 31, 30 or 28 days and the recurrence of 29 February every four years. For this delicate function, extraordinary prodigies of miniaturisation are required to ensure that the movement, even in the absence of mechanical intervention, can respond to the calendar's irregularities, a difficult exercise masterfully succeeded by obtaining an ultra-flat perpetual calendar. In fact, Vacheron Constantin's Calibre 1120 QP is no more than 4.05 mm thick, beats at a rate of 2.75 Hz (19,800 vibrations per hour) and has around 40 hours of power reserve. In addition, the oscillating weight in the shape of a Maltese Cross makes the Maison's codes prominent at the heart of the movement. Presented in a brand-new version at SIHH 2017, the Patrimony perpetual calendar features a slate-coloured opaline dial, framed by a pink gold case. The outer rim of the dial is decorated with a circular pearlised chapter ring and pink gold applied hour markers, as well as the hour and minute hands and calendar pointers. The strap is hand-stitched black alligator leather, topstitched and fastened with a pink gold folding clasp. Beneath the dial, the moon disc displays the celestial vault in pink gold, made more intense by a blue galvanic treatment. Each star has been delicately worked to reproduce an exact map of the sky. Finally, the sapphire crystal caseback allows one to admire the calibre 1120 QP, the star of the 41 mm diameter case, water-resistant to 3 bar (30 metres).
