A new Poetic Complication featuring butterflies, one of Van Cleef & Arpels' favourite themes. Their circular dance among the clouds marks the passing of the minutes, while the retrograde hours are indicated by the flight of a swallow. The butterflies move at different speeds on demand: by pressing the button at 8 o'clock, they begin their dance through the clouds by accelerating it and then slowing it down. The case is in white gold with a diamond-set bezel. The mother-of-pearl dial is made with gold engravings and miniature paintings. The automatic movement features an on-demand animation module developed exclusively for Van Cleef & Arpels (the subject of a patent application).
