Discovering Ulysse Nardin

On 24 and 25 February 2016, six members of L'Orologio Club had the honour of visiting the production sites of the Maison Ulysse Nardin, in La Chaux-de-Fonds and Le Locle. The tour was packed with technical information, starting with an explanation of how the Ulysse Anchor constant-force escapement works, which introduced the guests to the company's research and development process. They then moved on to the modern movement assembly line at the La Chaux-de-Fonds manufacture, built according to the most up-to-date parameters, before plunging back into tradition with a visit to Donzé Cadrans, a manufacture acquired by Ulysse Nardin in 2012 and specialised in the artisanal manufacture of enamel dials. And then back to watchmaking with a visit to the ateliers in Le Locle, partly housed in the House's historical building, whose top floor houses the museum, which displays the brand's heritage, as well as pieces that inspired the development of the watches commissioned in 1985 by Rolf Schnyder and Ludwig Oechslin, to whom we owe the rebirth of the Ulysse Nardin name.
